FARMINGTON — The Farmington Area Alumni Association held its annual meeting and banquet Aug. 14, at the Mt. Blue High School. There were approximately 165 alumnus, guests and scholarship recipients in attendance.

Five $1,000 and two $500 scholarships were awarded to the following graduates: Morgan Bowering, University of New England; Derek Dalrymple, Thomas College; Rebecca Dunham, University of Maine at Orono; Miranda Collins, Eastern Maine Community College; Alexandra Lucas, Kennebec Valley Community College; Nicolas Hart, University of Maine at Orono; Mariah Hargreaves, University of Maine at Orono.

Hart and Hargreaves were unable to attend the banquet.

The first recipient of the Joseph Holman scholarship will go to Zach Hernadez, attending Cornell University. He will receive $6,000 after his first semester.

A surprise donation was delivered from the class of 1975. The sum of $1,532.11 was collected at the class reunion on Aug. 7 for the alumni association scholarship fund in memory of deceased classmates. These monies will be applied to 2011.

There were 34 classmates present at the 50th reunion of the class of 1960 and the class of 1950 had a respectful showing at their 60th reunion.

Lois W. Fellows, 92, class of 1935, attended despite her doctors discouragement. She traveled with her niece from Pennsylvania to be present. This was her 75th year since graduation from Farmington High School.

Allan Trask, class of 1960, was awarded the Alumni of the Year certificate.

Last on the agenda, Allen Smith auctioned off homemade pickles and relishes donated by Bill and Hazel Hiscock. The auction brought in monies for scholarships.
