NEW YORK (AP) — Former major league pitcher Matt Kinney was suspended 50 games for drug violations.

They were penalized Tuesday under the minor league drug program after testing positive for amphetamines.

Kinney, 33, who last pitched in the majors in 2005, was a standout player at Bangor High School.

The 6-foot-5, 230-pound righthander has been on the disabled list since June 12 with the San Francisco Giants’ Triple-A team in Fresno. He was 0-2 this year with a 9.64 ERA in seven appearances and five starts.
