PHILADELPHIA — Some 163 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Masons will be elevated to the 33rd Degree in a special ceremony at on Aug. 31. The event will take place during the annual meeting of the Supreme Council of Scottish Rite Freemasonry.

Among those to be honored are the following local Masons who were elected a year ago at the annual meeting in Boston: Roland A. Morgan of Bowdoin and Bradford D. Blake of Bowdoinham.

The 33rd Degree is awarded for outstanding achievement within the fraternity or for contributions to others reflecting credit on Freemasonry.

A vesper service on Sunday, Aug. 29, will open the three-day meeting which will also include executive and general sessions where Supreme Council members will be joined by leading Freemasons from throughout the United States and around the world.

Following the conferral of the 33rd Degree on Aug. 31, the names of those who have been selected to receive the degree next year at Chicago will be announced.
