NORWAY — The Norway Memorial Library is inviting Oxford Hills teenagers in grades seven through 12 to stop in, explore and connect with the Teen Room on Main Street.

Allison Rosenblatt, young adult services librarian, said that beginning Monday, Aug. 30, the Teen Room will be open from 2 to 5 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays each week. In addition to providing computers and a wireless service for connecting to laptops, the Teen Room offers a comfortable space to relax and study, browse for new books, and socialize, Rosenblatt said.

The Teen Room will also offer a monthly schedule of after-school activities,  including “Game On!” The program of organized board games will be held once a month on Tuesdays, Sept. 14, Oct. 12, Nov. 23 and Dec. 14 from 2:15  to 3:30 p.m.

The Teen Activity Group (TAG) will meet once a month on Wednesdays, starting with an open house on Sept. 8 and then on Oct. 6, Nov. 3 and Dec. 1. TAG helps plan and run teen programs and promotes teen life in the library.

Craft Smarts will be held once a month on Thursdays, starting with a Publish Your Book program on Sept. 2 to make fabric decoupage book covers. Other craft activities are scheduled for Oct. 7, Nov. 18 and Dec. 9.

All programs are held from 2:15 to 3:30 p.m. Teenagers are encouraged to visit the library to pick up a bookmark listing the program schedules.

Since opening in March, the Teen Room has been a designated snack-zone and Rosenblatt said starting in September, Teen Services will offer a variety of healthy snacks at a nominal cost. New, comfortable butterfly chairs are another addition to this space.
