Bridge play

NORWAY — The Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met Aug. 27 in the Recreation Building on King Street. An eight-table Mitchell movement was played. Finishing first in flight A north-south were: Pat Quinn and Lucille Theriault; second, Eilene Potvin and Della Starbird, also first in flight B; third, Nick K. and Bailey Geeslin. Finishing second in flight B north-south were David Kallander and Bill Tedford.

Finishing first in flight A east-west were: Mike Quinn and Les Buzzell; second, Neenie Kivus and Dave Lock; third, Cynthia Clifford and Claire Lyons, also first in flight B. Second in flight B were Carol Curran and Suzanne Dame Andrews.

Legion dance

SOUTH PARIS — The Jones Dance Band will play old-fashioned dance music from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, at the Legion Hall on Church Street. The cost is $5.

The Legion will also host a supper from 5 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, for $7.

Indoor sale

WATERFORD — An indoor yard sale will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Friday and Saturday, Sept. 3 and 4, at the Wilkins House on Plummer Hill (next to the church). Included in the sale be kids toys, games, household dishes and appliances and all kinds of knickknacks.

Proceeds will benefit the maintenance fund of both buildings.

Community potluck

SUMNER — The Congregational Church of East Sumner will host a community potluck supper at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, to celebrate the end of summer and the holiday weekend.

The church will have a float in the Buckfield Labor Day parade and its pie and coffee table during the festivities. Proceeds from the pie sales will support children in Haiti and African missions.

Book sale

BUCKFIELD — The Zadoc Long Free Library will host a book sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4 and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 5. There will be books, DVDs, CDs and cassettes. For more information, call 336-2171.
