For the first time in well over 50 years, alumni of Holy Family School, located on Sabattus St. in Lewiston, met Aug. 15 at the Franco-American Heritage Center for an afternoon of shared memories, laughter, food and hopes of “doing this again real soon.” One of the highlights of the reunion, attended by over 300 participants, was the welcoming of seven retired nuns who taught at the Catholic grammar school, which was open from 1927 to 1973. Also present were several former lay teachers who taught during the latter years. Pictured are one of the multi-generational families who attended the school. From left, Theresa Legare Banks, class of ’70; Gerard Legare, class of ’32; and Thomas Legare, class of ’67. Special recognition was given to Gerard Legare, 92, as the oldest alumni attending the reunion.
