AUBURN — A Tuesday evening crash near the Auburn Mall sent a man and boy to the hospital with minor injuries.

The Auburn Police Department reported the accident occurred just before 6 p.m. the intersection of Turner Street and Mount Auburn Avenue. Keith Higgins, 27, of West Minot, and a 2-year-old boy were taken to Central Maine Medical Center as a result of the crash.

Both Higgins and the boy were passengers in a 2000 Ford Mustang driven by Devon Hartford, 29, also of West Minot. Police said Hartford was northbound on Turner Street, crossing Mount Auburn Avenue on a green light, when she was hit broadside by a 2002 Buick Regal driven by 65-year-old Lois Lefebvre of Leeds. Police said Lefebvre was traveling on Mount Auburn Avenue when she ran a red light.

Damage to Hartford’s car was estimated at $8,000; to Lefebvre’s car, $4,500.
