FARMINGTON — Scott Perry of Farmington will be SugarWood Gallery’s featured Artist of the Month in September. An open house reception will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3. The public is invited and refreshments will be available.

For several years Perry worked throughout Maine as a freelance photographer primarily for the Associated Press and the Maine Times. His photos have appeared in newspapers and magazines around the world including Newsweek, the New York Times, USA Today and National Geographic Magazine. He enjoyed capturing bits of history on film and sharing it with others through the news media. However, he often found himself wanting to get more into his pictures than the normal window of view typical 35mm cameras could provide.

He currently works with digital cameras to capture wide landscape views of Maine, New Hampshire and beyond. He prints and frames his landscapes in his studio in Farmington.

Perry’s goal is to create views within the confines of a picture frame that are so expansive and magnificent, they will make a person feel that they are at the place the picture was taken. In addition to matted and framed archival prints, he has recently begun offering his prints on canvas that he wraps around a wood frame for hanging.

SugarWood Gallery is located at 248 Broadway and is open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
