LEWISTON — Phillip K. Lessard (Uncle Phil), 71, of 24 Dimsdale Ave., Lewiston. Phil died on Aug. 31, at Central Maine Medical Center.
He was born in Lewiston, Sept. 3, 1938, the son of Everett and Ruth Kenney Lessard. Phil was a 1956 graduate of Lewiston High School, where he lettered and excelled in hockey and football and like his father was considered one of the best baseball players in the area.
Additional education included graduating from the Marion Military Institute in Marion, Ala., and continued his education at the University of Maine and received a business degree from Burdett College in Boston, Mass.
On April 29, 1983, he married the former Jacqueline Anne Dumont. Their primary home was in Lewiston and for many years wintered in Port Orange, Fla. Uncle Phil’s log cabin on Orr’s Island harbored countless memories of camp fires, lobster feeds, tuna fishing and the best family outings, where his beloved nieces and nephews romped and played.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed for many years as salesmen for Sherwin Williams Paints. Phil belonged to the Elks Club and loved a good round of golf. He enjoyed watching his Red Sox, Patriots, and especially his beloved Bruins. Phil loved his cats, and his generosity and hands on devotion to his family was unequaled.
Survivors include his wife of Lewiston; a brother, John of Riviera Beach, Fla.; a sister, Suzanne and her husband, Weldon Svor, of Lewiston; his loving nieces and nephews, Jesse of Detroit, Mich., Josie Blue of New York City, Phil Svor and his wife, Janet, of Chalfont, Pa., Shannon Leblanc and her husband, MJ, of Arundel and Jonathan Svor and his wife, Toni, of Lewiston.
