OXFORD — The Oxford Recreation Department will host the sixth annual Duck Race at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11.

Tickets, for $5, may be purchased in advance at the following locations: Oxford Town Office, Smedbergs, Record Lumber, Crestholms Farms, KeyBank and Polly’s. Tickets will also be sold the day of the event until 1:45 p.m. The Duck Race is the largest fundraiser for the Oxford Community Center which helps them coordinate free community events throughout the year.

First place will win $200; second place, $150; third place, $100; last place, $100.

A community yard sale will also be held that day at the Oxford Community Center, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Table are available to rent for $10. Call by Friday, Sept. 10, to reserve.

Free activities at the center also will include a horse shoe tournament at noon; a bicycle, doll carriage and “horrible” parade at noon, with all participants judged on their costumes or decorations at 11:30 a.m. in the Robinson’s Mill Parking lot; and life-size chess, checker games and bocce games will also be available.
