RUMFORD — Mildred Ellen (Bulger) Millie Harlow, CNA, 93, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 1, at the Rumford Hospital.
She was born on Prince Edward Island, March 24, 1917, the daughter of William and Gertrude (MacDonald) Bulger. She graduated from Stephens High School in Rumford, Class of 1935 and married the love of her life, Charles Harlow. She was widowed at age 26, and dedicated her life to her two sons, especially enjoying their careers in football. Millie loved and enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and took part in their numerous activities.
Millie was dedicated to St. Athanasius–St. John Church, and actively involved as a member of the Daughters of Isabella. She served on class reunion planning committees her whole life, and was involved in Widows and Widowers. She loved the Patriots and Red Sox.
Millie worked at Flynn’s Market, the finishing room at Oxford Paper Co. for many years, and the Rumford Community Hospital as a nurse’s aide.
She is survived by her sister, Etta Watson of Rumford; sons, Henry Harlow and wife, Nancy, of Oquossoc and Charles Harlow and wife, Sylvia, of Portland; grandchildren, Charles Harlow of Oquossoc, Michele Newman and husband, Keith, of Woodstock, Conn., Denise Harlow of Portland and Kristen Harlow and husband, Moritz VonStuelpnagel, of New York City; great-grandchildren, Rachel Harlow of Conrow, Texas, and Kyle and Melodie Newman of Woodstock, Conn.; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Millie was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Earl and Bill Bulger; sisters, Sue Walton and Teresa Rose; grandson, Darel Harlow; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Earle Walton, Harold Watson, Francis Rose, Dot Bulger and Diane Bulger.
