AUGUSTA — Raymond J. Levesque of Winthrop, passed away Aug. 31, at Maine General Medical Center.
Raymond was born in Augusta, Dec. 10, 1931, the son of Ida (Caret) (Levesque) Thibeault and Omer Levesque. He attended local schools and graduated from Cony High School, Class of 1951. While at Cony, he was active in sports, earning varsity letters in football, baseball, basketball and track.
He was employed by the Maine Army National Guard at Camp Keyes for 35 years. He retired from the Maine Army National Guard in 1986, and the U.S. Army Reserves in 1991, after 42 years of service, having achieved the rank of chief warrant officer four. He was awarded the Army Reserve Meritorious Service Medal in 1991. After his retirement, he was employed with D.L. Fleury Sporting Goods for two years.
He is survived by his wife, Blanche (Dow) (Moore) Levesque of Winthrop; son, Charles Stephen Levesque and wife, Suzanne, of Hallowell; daughter, Julie Ann Young of Oxford; brother, Joseph (Dom) Levesque of Pompano Beach, Fla.; stepdaughter, Elaine (Moore) Seman of Freeport, Fla.; stepson, Loren James Moore of Michigan; stepsister, Lucille Thomas Thibeault of Massachusetts; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Raymond was predeceased by stepdaughters, Nancy (Moore) Rowden and Anita (Thibeault) Pickard.
