GREENE — When Roger Hamann of Greene learned that his employer of more than 30 years, Modern Woodcrafts in Lewiston, was closing in June 2009, he was faced with a question that many have dealt with: “Where do I go from here?”
Just a few short years from a planned retirement, he set out to find a new job. What he found instead was a desire to turn his passion into a career. Thus began Searchlight People Locators.
As a Vietnam veteran, Hamann had made it his hobby for several years to reunite those who had served in the military together and lost touch. He honed his research skills and was able to make connections that many had thought were a lost cause.
The new company aims to reunite family (such as adopted children or parents), friends, classmates and those who served together in the military.
For a nominal fee that varies depending on the type of search to be performed, Searchlight will use information such as name, last known address, approximate age, etc., to find the person the client is looking for.
Hamann’s wife of 37 years, Joan, is his new business partner.
