SOUTH PORTLAND – The Pine Cone Open Tennis Tournament will be held Sept. 11 and 12 at South Portland High School courts. Competition will be held in men’s open singles and doubles.

CMCC youth hoop clinic scheduled
AUBURN – The women’s basketball team at Central Maine Community College in Auburn is hosting a youth basketball clinic for the following age groups: Saturday, Sept. 25, girls in grades 4-6 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and grades 7-10 from noon to 2 p.m.; Sunday, Oct. 3, girls in grades 7-10 from 4 to 6 p.m.
The clinic staff is composed of players from the Central Maine women’s basketball team. This clinic is for beginner, intermediate, or advanced players who want to learn basketball in a fun environment. This will be a stress-free, fun two hours learning the fundamentals of the game taught by enthusiastic college players. A variety of skills will be taught based on the individual skill level of the players.
Cost is $15 for one day or $25 for the two days. The clinic will be held at Kirk Hall on the CMCC campus. For more information and/or a registration form, contact the CM athletic department at 755-5251.
USM baseball clinic
GORHAM – The University of Southern Maine baseball staff will be conducting the second annual Advanced Baseball Clinic on Sunday, Oct. 3 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The clinic is for high school players with aspirations of playing college baseball. Instruction will take place in the morning and games will take place in the afternoon. The clinic will be held at the USM baseball stadium. Cost is $75. The clinic will be limited to 60 players. For more information, contact Coach Ed Flaherty at 780-5474.
