FARMINGTON — The Sandy River Players community theater will hold open auditions on Sept. 16, 17 and 18 for its fall production, “Broadway on the Sandy.” The show will consist of a series of individual acts by local performers, possibly some of the most popular numbers from past Sandy River Players productions.
Local performers of all ages are encouraged to audition. They should prepare the Broadway number of their choice, and may either bring their own accompanist or provide piano sheet music.
Acts will be selected based on quality standards and on the degree of competition that turns out.
“It is a great opportunity for our many talented community members to showcase their favorite pieces and obtain a ‘part’ in a production without the constraints and demands of a full musical show,” said Jayne Decker, Sandy River Players president.
Auditions will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 16 in Room 220 of Merrill Hall on the University of Maine campus; from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sept. 17; and from 9 a.m. to noon on Sept. 18. Friday and Saturday auditions will be in Nordica Auditorium in Merrill Hall.
“Broadway on the Sandy” will be performed Nov. 19-21 in Nordica Auditorium.
