‘Mum’ sale
NORWAY — A sale of eight-inch pots of chrysanthemums will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 11, in the Second Congregational Church parking lot, 205 Main St.
The public is invited to purchase a variety of brightly colored mums, just in time for fall planting. Sponsored by the Music Committee, proceeds will benefit the church’s general fund. People are advised to come early, as the annual sale is popular.

WEST PARIS — The West Paris Grange 298 will hold a flea market, bake sale and luncheon on Saturday, Sept. 11, at Grange Hall on Church Street. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. For more information, call 674-3241.
Financial seminar
AUBURN — The Riverside Drive Baptist Church will host a free, six-week financial seminar beginning Monday, Sept. 13 at 6:45 p.m. Topics will include budgeting, debt, setting priorities, financial responsibilities and common pitfalls in the household management of money. Workbooks will be provided.
There will be a Bible club provided for children ages 5 to 12, as well as a nursery. Teenagers are encouraged to attend the seminar. The church is located at 1085 Riverside Drive. For more information, call 782-5400.
Literary Union
AUBURN — Members of the Woman’s Literary Union will meet Thursday, Sept. 9, at the clubhouse, 19 Elm St. Michael Graham, curator of the Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village Museum, will speak on the current exhibit at the museum, “Creating Chosen Land: Our Home from 1783 to 2010,” which includes old photos, paintings and antiques of the Sabbathday area. There are only three Shakers in the world today, and they live at the Shaker Village in New Gloucester.
Refreshments will be served and the public is welcome to attend. Jeanne Pacheco and Susan Smith are in charge of hospitality.
Seniors barbecue
LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens will meet for a “welcome back” barbecue at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13, at the Snack Bar at the Multi-Purpose Center. A members meeting and bingo will be held in the Seniors Room following the cookout.
Sept. 11 ceremony
LEWISTON — The Lewiston Fire Department and Local 785 will hold a 9/11 memorial ceremony at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at L-A Harley, 839 Main St. Refreshments and a motorcycle poker run will follow. Honor Guards will be present.
