Community supper
MECHANIC FALLS — The Mechanic Falls Historical Society will host its “Slowly Becoming Famous Roast Beef Community Supper” from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at Congregation Hall, downstairs at the Mechanic Falls Historical Society, 64 Elm St. The cost will be $7 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.
Apple pie sale
NEW GLOUCESTER — The annual apple pie sale sponsored by the New Gloucester Historical Society will be held on Saturday, Sept. 25, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Shaker Museum, Route 26. The pies are baked with apples from Thompson’s Orchard and are all made by a volunteer crew of New Gloucester’s finest cooks.

Art and literature club
LEWISTON — The Auburn-Lewiston Art and Literature Club will gather for their first meeting of the year at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13, at the Olin Art Center, Bates College. Members will view the Joseph Nicoletti Collection, “A Retrospect,” with Curator Anthony Shostak.
DAR meeting
SABATTUS — Burnt Meadow Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will celebrate Patriot Day by meeting at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at the home of Lois Crawford in Brunswick. The meeting will discuss how to promote the State Regent’s theme: “Preserve and Promote Maine’s Heritage through Protecting our Natural Resources.”
Modest plans to celebrate Constitution Week, Sept. 17 to 23, and to remind members that Sept. 17 is POW/MIA Recognition Day, Citizenship Day and Constitution Day, will be made. Jayne Bickford will hand out Constitution bookmarks to schools in Bowdoin, Lisbon and the Oak Hill High School.
