WILTON — A new pet station has been set up near the boat dock on Wilson Lake to encourage pet owners to clean up after their pets.
Dog owners like to walk their pets around town and especially around the scenic lake area, Town Manager Rhonda Irish said. But she has received several complaints about owners not picking up dog waste, including many from the area around the boat dock, she said Friday.
A few residents came forward and provided the funding for the new station, complete with plastic bags and a receptacle to hold the filled bag. There’s also a sign asking owners to keep the area clean because pet waste transmits disease.
After a cooling romp through the waters of Wilson Lake on Friday, Bogey, a chocolate lab belonging to Dan Leclerc, poses for a moment beside a new dog station set up near the boat launch area at the foot of the lake.
