BRIDGTON — A man was treated and released at Bridgton Hospital after suffering minor injuries in a fire Monday evening.

Assistant Chief Tim Cook of the Bridgton Fire Department said the man’s single-story house at the corner of South High Street and Willett Road had a lot of fire in it when firefighters were called out at 6:46 p.m. Cook said the man’s nephew was also at the residence and helped him out the front door. A dog also escaped and ran off.

Cook said on Tuesday afternoon that he did not know the names of the man and his nephew.

Firefighters from Bridgton, Harrison, Sebago and Naples responded to the scene. Cook said it took about an hour to put the fire out, but responders remained at the scene until midnight to douse hot spots and assist with the investigation of a cause.

Cook said the fire appears to be accidental.
