BATH — At its recent annual dinner, the Pine Tree Society presented a Spirit of Pine Tree Society award to longtime Pine Tree Camp supporters Gordon and Louise Curtis of Lisbon.

For the past 16 years, Gordon and Louise Curtis have have organized the annual “World’s Greatest Sleigh Rides” event. Each year, hundreds of people come to Lisbon Falls one Sunday in February to take part in the event, which features music, food and horse-drawn sleigh rides. All money raised from the event benefits Pine Tree Camp.

“Their event has not only raises a substantial amount of money for our program, but it also raises awareness about what Pine Tree Camp offers to our campers and their families,” said Harvey Chesley, director of facilities management at Pine Tree Camp. “The sleigh ride is really a huge undertaking, and we’re honored to be able to recognize their commitment.”

The Spirit of Pine Tree Society award was established in 2005 as a way to recognize individuals and organizations that embody the organization’s mission.
