AUBURN — Spots are still open for the Auburn Community Chamber Choir. The first rehearsal will be on Wednesday, Sept. 15, at the Park Avenue Methodist Church.
Conducted by Christopher G. Keene, Edward Little High School Class of 2006, the choir already features alumni of the University of Southern Maine and the University of Maine, as well as Edward Little and Lewiston high schools.
After living his first 18 years in Auburn, Keene left the area to train as a choral conductor. After extensive work in Boston at New England Conservatory, in New York at the Omega Institute, in Minnesota at Concordia College and at the University of Maine at Orono, Keene decided to return to the area to form a choir to serve the Lewiston-Auburn community.
The choir will perform a variety of music from the classical heritage of many cultures up to the work of young living composers. Keene has also composed new music to be premiered by the choir in its first concert series during December.
