LEWISTON — Edouard J. Ouellette, 92, of 384 Webber Ave., Lewiston, passed away Friday, Sept. 10, at his home.
Edouard was born in Lewiston on Aug. 27, 1918, at home, to Edouard Sr. and Emelia Trembley Ouellette. He was educated in Lewiston and helped out on the family farm until he joined the U.S. Army. A veteran of World War II, serving overseas, he traveled to many countries including France and Germany, places his father had visited during World War I.
Upon returning home he worked at various jobs including building maintenance for Jones and Vining, from where he retired due to ill health. After retiring he had plenty of time to putter on his favorite hobbies, including leather work and woodcarving. He made beautiful wallets, belts, purses and other pieces. His wood working projects were varied and creative.
His love of nature led him to spend much of his time outdoors, tending to plants and flowers.
He is survived by his sisters, Marie Dennison of Lewiston, and Aurella Ouellette, Carmen Jutras and her husband Marcel, and Laurianne Ouellette, all of Manchester, Conn.; nieces and nephews, Ann L. Michaud and husband, Pierre, with whom he lived, Bertrand and Paul Ouellette, Diane Cormier Bouchard and husband Paul, Cathy McCann and husband George, all of Manchester, Conn., James Jutras of Scotland, Conn., and Glenn Jutras and wife Suzanne of Coventry, Conn.; and many great-nieces and -nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, mother, sister Rita Ouellette, brother Camille, and sister-in-law Rita Ouellette.
The family would like to thank Androscoggin Hospice Care who were an enormous help and comfort, and Pine Tree Home Heath Care for their help and concern. Condolences and a photo tribute may be accessed online at www.albert-burpee.com.
