AUBURN — Jack Erickson scored both goals as St. Dom’s steered away from Georges Valley with a 2-1 victory in a boys’ soccer game Saturday afternoon.

The Saints took a 1-0 lead when Erickson used a feed from teammate Alex Parker and headed the ball in the net.

In the second half, the undefeated Saints (3-0) made it 2-0 when Erickson scored an unassisted goal. The Buccaneers spoiled a would-be shutout when Bryan Matthews scored unassisted to make it 2-1.

St. Dom’s goalie Cam Hainey made four saves and the Saints outshot the Buccaneers 9-5.

Gray-NG 5, Freeport 0

FREEPORT — Sophomore midfielder Jack Martel scored a hat trick to lead Gray-New Gloucester to a 5-0 shutout victory over Freeport WMC boys’ soccer action Saturday afteroon.

Martel scored two of his three goals on direct kicks. Will Bartlett contributed a pair of assists for the Patriots (1-3) in their first win of the season.

Goalie Josh Wierich made six saves for the Falcons (0-3-1), while Ryan Cavallaro cleared away nine shots to earn the win in net for Gray-New Gloucester.

Field hockey

Messalonskee 3, El 0

AUBURN — Messalonskee scored three goals in the first half and the defense limited Edward Little to one shot in a 3-0 victory over the previously unbeaten Red Eddies.

Allie Delisle scored two goals and Renee Luettich added one for the Eagles (3-1).

Amanda Williams stopped 13 shots for Edward Little (3-1).

Cony 7, Lewiston 0

LEWISTON — Chelsea Begin scored three goals to lead Cony to a 7-0 victory over Lewiston.

Nicole Rugan and Jenna Harwood added two goals each to complete the scoring.

Cony (2-2) enjoyed 17-2 advantage in shots and 10-1 in penalty corners. Alison Lafreniere made seven saves for Lewiston (0-4).

NYA 11, Poland 0

YARMOUTH — Kat Millet buried four goals as North Yarmouth Academy poucned to an 11-0 rout over Poland in WMC field hockey action Saturday afteroon.

The Panthers (4-0) were simply dominant on offense, shuting out the Knights 33-0 in shots on goal. Kylie Dalbec and Francis Leslie contributed two goals apiece for North Yarmouth.

Goalie Melora Lavoie made 22 saves for Poland, while Mariah Farrell picked up the win in goal without having to make a single save.

Leavitt 8, Oak Hill 1

TURNER — Adrie Newton recorded a pair of goals and an assist to lead Leavitt to an 8-1 victory over Oak Hill in KVAC field hockey Saturday.

Kasidy Stevenson doled out a pair of goals for the Hornets (2-0) as well. Casey and Cheryl Fichter pitched in with a goal apiece, while MyKayla McCann added a goal and an assist and Bri DeGone rounded out the scoring with a tally.

Goalie Sara Lacrois made an impressive 30 saves for the Raiders (0-4), while Taylor Eells notched the win in net with a single save for Leavitt.

Girls’ soccer

Poland 3, Gray-NG 2

POLAND — Emma Burton scored on a breakaway to break a deadlock with 10:41 to play to lift Poland to a 3-2 girls’ soccer triumph over Gray-New Gloucester.

Sophie Spiller set up the winning goal with a through ball past the defense.

Emily Bolduc and Molly Rand also scored for Poland (2-2). Scoring for the Patriots (0-2) were Julia Ritter and Hayley Cote.

Poland’s goalie Cassie Mocciola and Gray-NG’s Sammie Wilkins both made eight saves.
