LEWISTON — L/A Arts invites the public to an artist talk with four artists featured in “Colors of Hope,” its current exhibition mounted in conjunction with the Dempsey Challenge.

The talk will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, at Gallery 5, 49 Lisbon St.

Speaking will be David Hill, Susan Guthrie, John Girouard and Sara Karam.

Photographer Hill, a cancer survivor, will speak about how he has used art as a tool for healing and recovery. Guthrie, also a photographer, will underscore that the creative process often involves spiritual expressions. Girouard works with crayons and hot glue to create large pieces of swirling color, and Karam creates intricate weavings with colorful wool thread.

Artist talks are free, with reservations suggested; call 782-7228.

“Colors of Hope” will be up through Oct. 9. Gallery hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. For more information, call 782-7228 or e-mail [email protected].
