TURNER — Funeral services for Alfred “Shorty” Cochran were held Monday at Calvary Baptist Church in Turner. The Rev. Steven Christner officiated at the service and recited committal prayers at Turner Village Cemetery, where interment followed in the family lot. Multiple delegations of rescue, fire and police public servants from surrounding towns and the county level were in attendance, along with a local honor guard delegation. All delegation participation and coordination was under the direction of Turner Rescue Assistant Chief Ross Gagne. Pallbearers were Win Coleman, Dennis Richardson, Matt Conklin, Bethany Gammon, Charlie Mock and Larry Farnum, all fellow colleagues of Turner EMS Rescue and Fire Departments. At the conclusion of committal prayers, the American flag was ceremoniously folded by representatives of the state police and was presented to his widow, Sarah Cochran. Among the silence of those in attendance, services concluded with emergency tones of “Last Call” and “Rest in Peace” messages given out over the two-way radios by dispatch at Turner Rescue and Fire Departments.
