LEWISTON — Maurice H. Laplante, 74 of 27 Drew St., died peacefully Monday, Sept. 13, at his home after a long illness surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Lewiston, April 29, 1936, the son of the late Noel C. and Rose Alma Cote Laplante. He was educated in Lewiston schools and attended St. Dominic High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was married April 19, 1958 to Jeannine H. Poussard, his soulmate and the love of his life.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 25 years at Philip Elmet. He was a member of Holy Cross Church and American Legion Post 135 of Sabattus.
He enjoyed golfing, bowling and fishing, and in his later years after retirement was an avid landscaper, creating a beautiful haven in his backyard. His lifelong passion was spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren. His beautiful voice was enjoyed by all at family gatherings. He was loved by all who knew him and he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Jeannine of Lewiston; two daughters, Tina Maria Laplante of Auburn and Rachel Charette and husband, Daniel, of Sabattus; a son, Maurice R. Laplante and wife, Claire, of Wales; four grandchildren, Ryan, Kevin and Lauren Laplante and Zac Charette; two sisters, Dolores Dumont of Auburn and Priscilla Thompson of New Castle, Ind.; two brothers, Robert Laplante and wife, Carol, of Sabattus and Richard Laplante and wife, Arlene, of Auburn.
He was predeceased by a sister, Fleurette Labbay; and a brother, Raymond Laplante.
