The Sept. 9 Sun Journal had an article about the plan of Florida pastor Terry Jones to burn copies of the Quran on the anniversary of the hideous attack by Muslim fundamentalists on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
But wouldn’t it have been far more effective if the major media had simply spiked the story of the book burning, as it effectively spiked another story that we saw with our own eyes? That was the story of Egyptian Muslims dancing in the streets of Cairo on Sept. 11, 2001. The Muslims were rejoicing at the death of nearly 3,000 citizens of the U.S.A.
Americans must not be allowed to dwell upon the true nature of the Muslim religion, right? So the word went out from some very influential source not to run that story and those pictures any more.
One very minor league Christian pastor announces a book-burning. He is aware that the Quran calls repeatedly for killing of Christians and Jews if they refuse to convert to Islam. Jones is aware of how that doctrine was put into effect against a Jewish newspaper correspondent captured by the Muslim fundamentalists. That poor man had his head cut off on television.
Jones is also aware that hundreds of Christian churches in the Muslim country of Indonesia have been burned down by Muslim fundamentalists (not books, but houses of worship).
That is a story that the liberal media studiously ignores.
Would that it had ignored Pastor Jones.
