JAY — The Daughters of Isabella Circle 677  from St. Rose of Lima met Sept. 8 for a business meeting, after a two-month break.

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Regent Laurie Gagnepain. The recitation of the rosary was said. Communications were read by Louise Chandler, and included thank you cards received for the gift the Daughters gave to the Bishops Appeal; thank you cards received from Mary Chassie, one for a lap quilt donated by the Daughters; and also a thank you for the desserts and salads the Daughters made for the parish picnic.

There were no applications for membership or transfer. The group talked about the Fall Bazaar and everyone was reminded to bring a nonperishable item for the food basket to be raffled at the bazaar.

Maryette Castonguay asked if people could stay after and help do coffee cans after this month’s social. Shirley Couture spoke about the theme basket, which will also be worked on after the social. Everyone who has a theme basket should bring their items to the social and anyone who cannot make the social should bring their items on Friday when the group will set up the hall for the bazaar.

Couture also said that if anyone would like to do a basket they could join with another group. Rita Crowley spoke about the desserts the Daughters will make for the Knights of Columbus free suppers. She also mentioned that the supper is for everyone and donations are welcome, but not necessary.

New business included a Mass for the deceased, to be held at 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12. A dinner will follow the Mass. Daughters will make the desserts and there will also be a Chinese auction.

Anointing of the sick will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24. A membership blitz will be on Nov. 14 at the parish hall.

A short form ceremony was held for Fern Dioiron, who is taking the place of treasurer, and also for Beatrice Moreau, taking the place of Auditor No. 3. Denise Rodzen spoke about the 40 Club.
