DAVENPORT, Fla. — May Robbins Bradley, 98, Auburndale, Fla., formerly of Farmington, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, in Florida, of natural causes with her family at her side.

She was born at home in a small settlement known as “New Portland Hill,” also known as West New Portland. She was the eighth child of Ernest Seth and Mildred Lois Rackliffe Robbins.

She excelled in school, first the Pratt Corner School and later the Village School in New Vineyard. She married Clifton Willis Bradley on May 15, 1929.

They lived in New Vineyard village until together in 1933, they purchased a farm and raised beef cattle on a nice 300 acre farm in New Vineyard Basin, while also working fulltime in F.O. Smith’s Novelty Mill.

From 1939 to 1945, they spent summers on Saddleback Mountain in Rangeley, watching for forest fires. From 1945 to 1950, they owned and operated Redington Pond Camps. In 1949, a home was purchased in Farmington, where they resided for many years. Later they owned and operated overnight camps in Topsham. After selling out, May moved to Auburndale, Fla., but continued to work at jobs helping others, including cosmetic work with local funeral directors.

May was very involved with the Republican Party and her church.

She is survived by a son, Theodore (Ted) Bradley and wife, June Knight, of Winter Haven, Fla.; a daughter, Darlene Bradley of Utah; 21 grandchildren, Ted Bradley II, Anthony (Tony) Bradley, Melissa Fochesato, Jason Farrington, Denise Ridge, Deborah Bradley, Anna Milburn, Richard Bradley ll, Monette Bradley, Margaret Letarte, Carlene Pike, Everett Pike, Tom Pike, Karen Pike, Sarah Bradley, James Murray, Riva O‘Rourke, Paula Rees, Melissa Albee, Alyssa Slaugh and Amanda Hales; and many great and great-great-grandchildren.

May was predeceased by all her siblings, nine brothers; and three sisters; a son, Richard Clifton Bradley; a daughter, Diane May Bradley Murray; and two grandchildren, Mary and Patricia Bradley.
