Heart Walk 2010-11 will be in a new location this year, stepping off at the Hilton Garden Inn in Auburn instead of Lewiston High School on Sunday, Sept. 19.

The American Heart Association of Maine event, which raises money for and awareness of heart health, begins with registration at 8:30 a.m. at the hotel, followed with announcements and warm-up at 9:10 a.m. The walk starts at 9:30 a.m.

There is no cost to participate, but prizes will be awarded to top fundraisers.

Walkers will travel the L-A Trails Riverwalk from West Pitch Park through Simard-Payne Memorial Park, Bonney Park, Moulton Field and the Riverwalk along Festival Plaza. A portion of the route will be on downtown streets in Auburn and Lewiston, so motorists are asked to be courteous of walkers and to expect temporary delays Sunday morning.
