AUGUSTA — Roderick L. “Rick” Adams, 47, of Farmington passed away at Maine General Medical Center, early Monday, Sept. 13, surrounded by his family and friends, after a courageous battle with Leukemia.

Rick was born Dec. 18, 1962, the son of F. James Adams Jr. and Jeanice (Smiley) Honas in Farmington. He graduated from Mount Blue High School in 1981 and the Phoenix Institute of Technology, earning a degree in automotive technology.

Rick was especially pleased to have successfully completed the numerous ASE certifications and was proud to be a certified auto technician. He was employed at area car dealerships and owned his own garage, Rick’s Auto Repair, for many years.

Rick was happiest with his head under the hood of a car, renovating classic Mustangs, and driving fast cars. His other favorite pasttime was being in the outdoors, hunting, fishing, or snowmobiling. One of his more proud moments was when he shot an 11 point buck. He was also was very skilled with his crossbow and enjoyed teaching this art to his daughter, McKinley.

Survivors include his daughter, McKinley of Portland; parents, Jimmy of Farmington and Jeanice and husband, John, of Augusta; brothers, Ross of Martha’s Vineyard, Ryan and wife, Jenny, of Derby, Conn.; sisters, Rebekah Wilbur of New Vineyard and Rachel Sprague and husband, Mike, of Sidney; his grandfather, Henry Disotto of Jay; and many much-loved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rick was predeceased by grandparents, Donald and Edith Smiley, Leona Disotto and F. James Adams Sr.; nieces, Jossilyn and Zelana; and his beloved dog, Bear Bear.

Rick will be missed very much.
