SOUTH PARIS — Today, Sept. 16, Stanley Smith left us to be with our Lord after fighting a long 9 1/2 year battle with cancer. He was born in Oxford, Aug. 25,1951.
Stanley always enjoyed sports of all kinds also hunting, fishing and NASCAR racing. He enjoyed reading many kinds of books and writing poetry. Stanley has written 89 poems to date which will be published at a later date with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society. He also did a little drawing, mostly the funny side of political characters.
Stanley was a plumber most of his life in local mobile home plants up until his illness took him out of work. He also worked for NASCAR at I-95 Speedway until its closure.
Stanley leaves behind his lovely and beautiful wife, Charmaine of South Paris of 18 years, who he cherished as much as life itself; his mother and stepfather, Doris and Robert Tarr of Gardiner; four brothers, Stuart Smith of Oxford, Wayne Smith and wife, Ann, of Oxford, Rodney Smith and wife, Sandra, of Oxford and Terry Smith and his partner, Toni, of Lewiston; he also has a son, Troy Smith of Iola, Kan.; three stepchildren, who he loves very much, James Johnson of Missouri, Belinda Guynes of Texas, and Tammy and Ed Durham of Colorado; many nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles; and grandchildren.
