AUBURN — Laurier “Larry” Langlais, 64, of Quaker Ridge Road, Greene, died Friday morning, Sept. 17, at the Hospice House with his family by his side following a tough courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Lewiston on Aug. 1, 1946, the son of Arthur and Yvette (Rodrigue) Langlais. He grew up in Lewiston, attending St. Peter’s School and graduating from St. Dominic’s High School in 1964. He was employed a short time for the former Quality Heel, and was then employed for 40 years by Central Maine Power Co.
He was a musician and was a member of the group “Country Sounds” as a keyboard player, playing for many years at the former Blanchette Hall in Lewiston, which later became the CJ Hall. He later played at festivals with a local band called “Les Quatre Amis.” His most recent performance, in March of this year, was at the La Rencontre.
Mr. Langlais was very active in his community where he faithfully served as a volunteer firefighter since 1970 for the Greene Fire Department.
Survivors include his mother, Yvette Langlais, of Lewiston; his wife, the former Joline Desjardins, whom he married on Aug. 6, 1966, of Greene; a son, Norman and his wife, Linda, of Leland, N.C..; a daughter, Carrie MacDonald and her husband, Edward, of Ivanhoe, N.C.; two brothers, Robert and his wife, Sylvia, and Richard and his wife, Susan, all of Lewiston; a sister, Nancy Cadrin and her husband, Roger, of Lewiston; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Arthur.
