RUMFORD — Kenneth Ellis, 90, of Carthage, died late Saturday, Sept. 18, at the Rumford Hospital.
He was born on Oct. 12, 1919, in Waltham, Mass., the son of C. Errold and Carlotta (Small) Ellis. He attended Mexico schools and went on to serve more than four years in the Army and during World War II with Company B and the 103rd Infantry Regiment.
On Oct. 12, 1945, he married, Mary Virgin in Dixfield. She died in 2000.
Ken worked at the paper mill in Rumford for 27 years retiring at the age of 62. He enjoyed being in the outdoors, hunting, fishing and mowing his lawn. He was also a former member of the Carthage Snowmobile Club.
He is survived by a sister, Beverly Perkins of the Victorian Villa in Canton; brothers, Charles Ellis and his wife, Nancy, of Jay and Carroll Ellis and his wife, Judy, of Dixfield; sister-in-law, Marilyn Ellis of Dixfield; brothers-in-law, Oliver Blood, Wallace, George and Ralph Virgin.
He was predeceased by four sisters, Iola Frost, Frances Blood, June Brewer and Maxcy Turbide; and two brothers, Morton and Edward Ellis.
