Crews in Norway closed Fair Street for nearly two hours on Monday afternoon to remove a rotting tree after at least one large branch crashed into the front of a house this week. Norway Fire Chief Dennis Yates said that crews from both Central Maine Power Co. and Lucas Tree Service of Portland were called to the scene at 14 Fair St. at about 2:30 p.m. He said that a large limb broke off from the tree during high winds and fell on the home owned by Steve and Beverly Kimball, ripping electrical lines from the house. The home itself also sustained damage. Beverly Kimball was home at the time, but was not injured. Yates said that fire officials determined that the tree was rotting and called in Lucas to remove the tree before it fell across Fair Street.
