PARIS — Oxford County commissioners Tuesday awarded a contract for paving four Albany Township roads.

The commissioners chose Pine Tree Paving of Norway from among three contractors bidding for the job. The bids were solicited earlier this month for the paving of Baker, Barton, Hutchinson Pond and Wardwell roads.

Pine Tree bid $93,677 for the paving and reclamation work, excluding gravel work, and submitted a bid for $77,967 for the paving work alone. Pike Industries bid $80,700 for the paving only, and Bruce A. Manzer of Anson bid $134,286 for all of the work.

Commissioner Caldwell Jackson of Oxford asked whether the bid left enough money to consider the paving of Sawin Hill Road, which was pulled from the package because of uncertainty regarding the pavement requirements. County Administrator Scott Cole said he would look into the matter.

The paving work will begin in the spring.
