NEW GLOUCESTER — Two Old Friends, Mac McHale and Emery Hutchins, will perform a combination of Irish music and old-time traditional country music Saturday, Oct. 2, at the New Gloucester Village Coffee House.

McHale and Hutchins, affectionately known as Mac and Hutch, have recently joined forces to sing and play songs from Ireland, the mountains and the sea. McHale and Hutchins were the original founders of the Irish band Northeast Winds. They traveled and recorded with the Winds for nearly 18 years.

For the past 17 years, McHale has headed up the Old-Time Radio Gang, a traditional country music band, and Hutchins has been an integral part of the Angel Band, an Irish music group.

The Oct. 2 program will likely include Irish and sea songs, gospel singalongs, a good amount of hot picking instrumentals and traditional Irish tunes and storytelling. McHale and Hutchins will play banjo, guitar, mandolin, concertina, bodran and the octave mandolin.

The two will perform at 7:30 p.m. at the coffeehouse at the First Congregational Church. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children and seniors. For more information, call Julie or Michael Fralich at 926-3161 or the church office at 926-3260.
