LEWISTON — Henry N. Tukey Jr., of New Gloucester and Titusville, Fla., died Sept. 20, at Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 11, 1927, in Portland, the son of H. Newhall Tukey and Marion LeGrow Tukey. He graduated from Deering High School and immediately joined the U.S. Navy V-5 Flight Training Program. He was also a 1950 graduate of the University of Maine at Orono.

Upon graduation from college, he joined Pineland Lumber Co. of Lewiston and became its chairman and principal owner until his semi-retirement at the end of 1993.

He was a member of various Masonic Orders, and was a Past Master of Tranquil Lodge 29 and a Past Most Wise Master of H.H. Dickey Chapter of Rose Croix. He was also a member of the Kora Shrine Temple of Lewiston. He was a long time director of the Auburn Savings and Loan Association.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra J. Tukey; and three children, Terry Santos of Falls Church, Va., Bruce Tukey and his wife, Cheryl, of Auburn, Janet Eastman and her husband, Bruce, of Jay; a stepson Shawn and his wife, Emmie, of Auburn; and four grandchildren, Kristen Marks of Pensacola, Fla., Laura Tukey of Auburn, Mason and Kendra Jones of Auburn; two great-grandchildren, Jillian Marks and Andrew Marks of Pensacola, Fla.; and one sister, Elizabeth T. Noe of Seminole, Fla.
