DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have the Sun Journal sent to me here in Texas, and I read the following, in order, the obituaries, Sun Spots (sorry you are second) and then Mark Trail.

I would like the mailing address of Victoria Rowell. She was a foster child and was a foster parent for 35 years with my wife Betty. Victoria has put out two books. I have “The Women Who Raised Me” signed by her at Barnes and Noble in August.

I have just bought her new novel, “Secrets of a Soap Opera Diva,” and I would like to write to her about signing a copy of it for a friend who was also a classmate of mine. Many thanks. — Al Greenleaf, Keller, Texas

ANSWER: Sun Spots is pleased she is at least second in Al’s reading and glad he’s still keeping up with L-A from Texas.

As for Victoria’s address, as Sun Spots has noted previously, it is getting very difficult to find mailing addresses for celebrities. It is much more efficient, not to mention safer, for them to limit contact to e-mail and website.

Her book was published by Simon & Schuster, so you could put your request for a signed copy to them. You may contact them at 1230 Avenue of the Americas, 11th Fl. New York, NY 10020, 212-698-7000. Her book tour was listed on her website, but Sun Spots saw no stops in Texas.

You might also be interested to know that Victoria has formed an organization to help foster children find employment. You can visit her site at www.rowellfosterchildren.org (go to the library if you don’t have a computer at home). The mailing address is The Rowell Foster Children’s Positive Plan, 5850 West 3rd St. No. 178, Los Angeles, CA 90036, 323-857-1717.

Victoria was born in Portland, although websites differ on whether it was May 10 in 1959 or 1960.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I love your column and really wish it could expand, but in the meantime I need your assistance. I have been cleaning a friend’s house, and she is an avid puzzle collector. She is now downsizing and doing away with a large amount of them. She would like to see them go to more avid puzzle solvers.

I know some nursing homes will accept them, but are there any other organizations that would enjoy assorted puzzles? They range from 500 to 1,500 pieces and vary widely in the designs.

On a completely different note: Can you give me a physical address to ship things to the Ellen DeGeneres Show? Thanks in advance. — Angie, Sabattus, notagirliegirl79@aim.com, 380-3858

ANSWER: Sun Spots is sure there are many organizations that could use the puzzles, and she suspects you will be inundated with requests.

As for Ellen’s show, the mailing address is The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Telepictures Productions, 3000 West Alameda Ave., Suite 2700, Burbank, CA 91523. Sun Spots suggests you contact them first before sending a package. Considering all the unusual, or even possibly dangerous, things people might send to them, Sun Spots suspects they might not open unsolicited packages.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: If possible, I would like to have the address to The Ellen Degeneres Show that airs on Channel 8 at 4 p.m. I am disabled, and we do not get the paper at home. I have enclosed a self-addressed stamped envelope. Thank you so much. — No Name, No Town

ANSWER: Sun Spots cannot answer questions via the mail or over the phone. No one will pay her for that! Your letter must appear in the column, but she will withhold names if so requested. However, she did let this writer know that his question was asked and answered and what day, so he can see it. She hopes he will see how useful and entertaining the paper is and subscribe.

This column is for you, our readers. It is for your questions and comments. There are only two rules: You must write to the column and sign your name (we won’t use it if you ask us not to). Please include your phone number. Letters will not be returned or answered by mail, and telephone calls will not be accepted. Your letters will appear as quickly as space allows. Address them to Sun Spots, P.O. Box 4400, Lewiston, ME 04243-4400. Inquiries can also be e-mailed to sunspots@sunjournal.com.
