On Friday, Sept. 24, the ensemble Musica Nuova will perform a program of songs and instrumental works by Caccini, Strozzi, Merula, Frescobaldi and other Italian composers from the early 1600s. Called “It’s Complicated,” a name borrowed from Facebook, the concert will begin at 7 p.m. in the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall at Bates College in Lewiston. Musica Nuova will blend drama, music, a modern sensibility and fun for the program, which delivers the message that love and its complexities haven’t changed over the years. Tickets are $5. Proceeds will benefit the 2010 Dempsey Challenge. Tickets are available at www.batestickets.com.
