AUBURN — Paul F. Martin, 85, of Lewiston, died peacefully on Wednesday, Sept. 22, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Lewiston on June 26, 1925, the son of Francois and Reine (Bourgoin) Martin, and had been a resident of this community for most of his life. He was educated in Lewiston schools. He then went on to serve with the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific during World War II.

He was employed as a police officer for the Lewiston Police Department, having retired as a lieutenant after 28 years of service. Paul was an avid outdoorsman, having enjoyed all outdoor activities, especially skiing and camping.

He is survived by one daughter, Judith McMorrow and her husband, Joseph, of Mechanic Falls; three sons, Paul J. Martin and his wife, Linda, of Auburn, Dennis Martin and his wife, Stephanie, of Eugene, Ore., and Michael F. Martin and his wife, Cecile, of Lewiston; two brothers, Marcel Martin and his wife, Colette, of Lewiston, and Bertrand Martin and his wife, Irene, of Fayette; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by one sister, Jane Audet, and by one brother, Lucien Martin.
