SALEM TOWNSHIP — Amanda Richards, a 2010 graduate of Mt. Abram High School, has earned the AP Scholar Award in recognition of her exceptional achievement on AP Exams, completing three of more AP exams with a score of three or higher. She is now in the honors program at the University of Maine at Orono.

The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program provides willing and academically prepared students with the opportunity to take rigorous college-level courses while still in high school, and to earn a college credit, advanced placement or both for successful performance on the AP Exams.

About 18 percent of the more than 1.8 million students worldwide who took AP Exams performed at a sufficiently high level to earn an AP Scholar Award.
