FARMINGTON — A charge of sexual assault against a Farmington man was dismissed in Franklin County Superior Court on Friday, but the case remains under investigation.
James D. Hobert, 42, was arrested by Farmington Police officer Bridgett Gilbert in July on a charge of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl. He was in court Friday for arraignment on the charge.
Hobert could still face indictment on the charge pending the investigation. The case was dismissed but the state reserved the right to bring the case back following the investigation, Assistant District Attorney James Andrews said.
The case was referred to Farmington police after the victim revealed the ongoing incidents of alleged sexual assaults to her mother, who reported it to Child Health and Family Services, an office of the Maine Department of Health and Human Services.
