DIXFIELD — Becca Maifield and Nicole Burgess took turns scoring a goal in each half as the Falcons flew off with a 4-2 victory over Dirigo (1-8) in an MVC field hockey game.

The Falcons jumped out to a 3-0 lead when Maified dropped in her two goals and Burgess topped it off with her first of two scores.

In the second half, Dirigo’s Brooke Holmquist scored two unassisted goals, but Mountain Valley’s two-goal lead would hold.

The Falcons outshot the Cougars, 20-3, with Dirigo goalie Betsy Noyes making 16 saves.

Lisbon 6, Boothbay 1

BOOTHBAY HARBOR — MaKayla Stevens scored an impressive five goals to power Lisbon to a 6-1 victory over Boothbay in MVC girls’ soccer action Friday.

The Seahawks (3-6) scored first on a breakaway by Jessica Murray two minutes into the contest.

The Greyhounds (5-4) responded with four goals over the next 28 minutes to close the half at 4-1. Allie Fitzgerald assisted on three of Stevens’ first-half goals.

The final goal was scored by Jessica Campbell and assisted by Stevens.

Girls’ soccer

Brunswick 3, EL 0

AUBURN — Anna Cowan scored a pair of unassisted second-half goals to lift Brunswick to a 3-0 blanking of Edward Little in girls’ soccer action Friday.

Junior striker Becky Champagne opened the scoring 10 minutes into the game on a corner assist from Allison Walton. Cowan scored her goals 10 minutes apart deep into the second half to seal the victory for the Dragons (7-0).

Freshman Taylor Landry stopped 16 shots for Edward Little (4-3) in the loss while Brunswick keeper Lydia Caputi turned away five.

Rangeley 9, Valley 0

RANGELEY — Senior Allie Hammond fired in three goals and classmate Sandra Campbell added a pair to help lead Rangeley to a 9-0 drudging of Valley in girls’ soccer.

Campbell and Hammond produced the first four goals in the opening half. Abby Abbott and Morgan Rodway rounded out the scoring for a 6-0 halftime lead.

Emily Carrier came out of net to score a goal of her own in the second half. Rodway would also add another goal and an assist for the Lakers (5-2). Campbell finished with a trio of assists while freshman Tori Letarte also had one.

Valley keeper Karin McKenzie turned away 22 shots in the loss.

Monmouth 4, Boothbay 2

BOOTHBAY — Monmouth scored four unanswered first-half goals en route to a 4-2 victory over Boothbay.

Trailing 1-0, Ashley Coulombe tied the score with a goal on an assist from Chelse Arsenault. Arsenault then tallied the go-ahead score with one of Danielle Bumann’s two assists. Freshman Kylie Kemp rounded out the first half scoring with a pair of goals giving the Mustangs (4-3) a commanding 4-1 lead.

Boothbay goalie Mikayla McFetridge stopped 18 shots in net, while Monmouth keeper Kelsie Hilton turned away 10 in the victory.
