This is in response to the letter by Crystal Ward (Sept. 12), who was in support of Elizabeth Mitchell as a strong advocate for public education. Ward must be either a member of the teachers’ union or is related to someone who is a member.
Support of Mitchell is not support of education for the children of Maine; it is support of the union that will funnel a boatload of money for her support of the union. For years, the gig has been protection for teachers’ wages, insurance and retirement, all under the false banner of being for the children. If it had been for the children, we all would have been a lot better off, not just the union members.
Why is a union necessary for teachers and town and state workers? Are officials really so evil that a union is needed for negotiations?
