FARMINGTON — Joan E. Dunham, 82, of Farmington, passed away Sept. 25, at Orchard Park Rehabilitation and Living Center in Farmington.
She was born July 16, 1928, in Suffern, N.Y., the daughter of Glenn and Lillian E. (Lafratie) Hufford.
Joan worked as a psychiatric attendant at Pilgrim State Hospital in Brentwood, N.Y. In 1984, she met Robert Dunham, and they worked as house parents for troubled youth for many years. She later managed a large apartment complex with her then husband, Bob, who she was with for 27 years. Joan was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Farmington Ward, and she volunteered at Franklin Memorial Hospital for many years. Joan enjoyed fishing, traveling and spending time with her family.
Joan is survived by her husband, Robert E. Dunham of Farmington; daughter, Diannia Dunham of Farmington; sons, Donald Kane of California, Richard Knight of Oxford, Robbie Dunham of Alabama, Robert Dunham and his wife, Nicole, of Maryland; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Susan Dunham; her son, Bruce Kane; her sister, Patricia Hufford; and her brothers, John, James, and Richard Hufford.
