POLAND — Nate Morin booted a shot into the net with less than a second remaining in the first half to lift Poland to a 2-1 victory over Lake Region in WMC boys’ soccer action Tuesday.
Collin Dudley also tallied for the Knights (2-6) to give them a 1-0 advantage. Dillon Douglass made nine saves for Poland to notch the win.
Jared Black scored for the Lakers (1-6-1) to tie the contest with five minutes to go before halftime. Dakota Bush turned aside 10 shots in goal for Lake Region.
Mt. Blue 5, Skowhegan 1
FARMINGTON — Blake Hart and Dylan Stinchfield each netted a pair of goals to lead Mt. Blue to a 5-1 win over winless Skowhegan in a soggy KVAC boys’ soccer tilt.
The Cougars (5-2-1) jumped out to a 3-1 advantage in the first half and were never seriously challenged. Colton Hall also scored.
Brandon Jimenez-Roberts scored the only goal for the Indians. Matt Crowley needed only two saves to record the win for Mt. Blue, while Chase Palmer turned back 20 shots for Skowhegan.
Lewiston 2, Erskine 0
SOUTH CHINA — Eric Morin scored the eventual game-winning goal as Lewiston executed a 2-0 triumph over Erskine in KVAC boys’ soccer action Tuesday.
Twenty minutes into the second half in a scoreless tie, Morin came down the right flank and lofted the ball across the field in the direction of the net. The ball skipped off the hands of the goalie, Zack Busman, and deflected off his hip and into the left corner of the cage.
The Blue Devils (6-2) added an insurance goal with eight minutes remaining when Eric Hall converted a relay from Ali Hersi.
Busman made 11 saves for the Eagles, while Scott Ouellette turned back six shots to earn the win for Lewiston.
Gray-New Gloucester 6, Wells 0
GRAY — Jack Martel scored back-to-back goals to lead Gray New-Gloucester to a 6-0 victory over Wells.
Ian Martel initiated the scoring 10 minutes into the contest for the Patriots (5-4). Jack Martel’s two goals lifted Gray-NG to a 4-0 halftime lead.
Tyler Lamb made 10 saves for the Warriors (0-8), while Ryan Cavallaro turned away three shots to earn the win in net for Gray-New Gloucester.
Brunswick 1, Oxford Hills 0
BRUNSWICK — Senior midfielder Mitch Black scored the game’s lone goal to lift Brunswick to a 1-0 victory over Oxford Hills in a very wet and sloshy KVAC boys’ soccer action Tuesday.
Black’s goal came at the 18:03 mark in the first half for the Drgons (8-0).
Goalie Matt McVety made 13 saves for the Vikings (1-7), while Seth Holmblad prevented seven for Brunswick.
Buckfield 5, Rangeley 2
RANGELEY — Trevor Averill was unstoppable, scoring four goals, including a pair of breakaways, to lead Buckfield to a 5-2 triumph over Rangeley.
Josh Adams also scored for the Bucks (4-4). Carl Searles and Austin Figoli scored for Rangeley (2-6-1).
Kasey Robertson made five saves for the win, while Rangeley’s Luke Elliott made 16 saves.
Monmouth 2, Jay 0
JAY — Kyle Fletcher netted a goal in each half Tuesday as Monmouth pulled out a 2-0 victory over Jay.
Jeremy Ashlock made 10 saves for the Mustangs (4-4) to notch the shutout.
Tyler Gervais hustled in goal for the Tigers (0-7-1), turning back 18 shots.
