DURHAM — Selectmen will host a special public informational meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Durham Community School cafeteria to discuss the impact of the Route 136 closing.
Representatives from the Maine Department of Transportation, Maine State Police and Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department have been asked to attend, as well as state Sen. Deborah Simpson of Auburn and state Rep. David Van Wie of New Gloucester. Officials from several surrounding communities, including Pownal, Lisbon, Lewiston and Auburn, have been invited to attend.
Gary Wood, an attorney and local resident, will moderate the session where public concerns and questions will be heard. Up for discussion will be the impact on businesses, fire and rescue, and the wear and tear on town roads, selectmen said.
