DEAR SUN SPOTS: My husband went fishing Wednesday evening, Sept. 22, using the public boat launch behind the Higgins boat store (the launch on River Road behind Wendy’s and Coldwell Banker) in Auburn. There were other people using the launch, too, and they left some items behind.

We would really like to return them; my husband didn’t want to leave them at the launch. We can be reached at the following e-mail address: kr_0014@yahoo.com. Thank you very much for your help. — Kirk and Kim R. via e-mail

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I found a ring in the water while swimming at Brettun’s Beach in Livermore off of Route 4. I would like to return it to the owner as it looks kind of expensive and may hold sentimental value as well.

I have had it looked at by a jeweler, so if someone can give me a good description of it and tell me when they lost it, I would be happy to return it. Contact me at 562-8685. — Kimmy Money, kimmyluvsevan@yahoo.com

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Grace Lutheran Church in Auburn had a yard sale Sept. 25 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. I am the choir director and substitute organist and use prescription glasses for mid-distance in order to see the music when at the keyboard.

They are kept in a red hard case and were left on the piano top. They are no longer there, and I assume someone bought them. If you have them, I would appreciate if you would return them and I would buy them back. My phone number is 375-4894. — Kay Townsend, Greene

DEAR SUN SPOTS: We recently stayed at a hotel in Bar Harbor. Eight rooms were rented. On our departure we were shocked to see a $25 per night resort fee on our bill, adding $200 to our bill. Could Sun Spots find out if this is legal? — J.B., Lewiston

ANSWER: According to the hotel’s website, the fee you paid is to use the amenities at their club. The website says:

“Your $25 Resort Fee lets you enjoy exclusive amenities at the newly restored Bar Harbor Club. Featuring an Oceanside pool, hot tub, clay tennis courts and pool bar. The general public is welcome to revitalize in our spa.”

Did you ask about the fee at the desk when you were checking out? If you didn’t use the facility, you should bring that to the attention of the manager. They should have asked you when you checked in if you wanted to use the club. Perhaps it wasn’t clear to you that it required an additional fee?

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Where can I find a story written on June 13, 1942, in the Lewiston Journal Magazine section. It is about Little River Light Station in Cutler. Thank you for your time. — Chuck via e-mail

ANSWER: Sun Spots checked the Google archive of the Lewiston Evening Journal (http://tinyurl.com/2c9cmhn), and it showed “no editions available.” She then checked with the Lewiston Public Library, and they have that month on microfiche.
