LEWISTON — The nation’s most effective treatment for at-risk adolescents is expanding and adding a specialized treatment program for youth with problem sexual behaviors.
Tri-County Mental Health Services has offered Multi-Systemic Therapy for five years and had great success working with youth at risk of removal from homes or incarceration. Currently three MST teams serve Androscoggin, Oxford, Cumberland and York counties. The agency is adding specialized training in problem sexual behaviors and will begin enrolling families in October. MST is the No. 1-rated evidence-based practice in the nation for at-risk youth.
The agency will host information sessions for the community, including providers, school officials, and law enforcement, from 9 a.m. to noon, in three regions. In central Maine, the meetings will be:
* Wednesday, Oct. 13, at the Good Shepherd Food-Bank, 3121 Hotel Road, Auburn.
* Thursday, Oct. 14, at the South Paris Fire Department, 137 Western Ave.
To register, e-mail Thelma Gurschick at [email protected] or call 783-9141 ext. 375 by Oct. 4. For more information about the program, contact Pat Proulx-Lough at 783-4663 ext. 265 or Betsy McGettigan at 743-0017 ext. 406.
